How we work during Hypnosis

How we actually work during hypnosis - part two -

In the first article, I described how a hypnotherapy session begins — from the initial conversation to entering a relaxed, inward-focused state.

From here, the actual work begins.

Usually, we start with the theme that emerged during our conversation at the beginning of the session.

I then ask you to connect with your body and notice where a certain feeling resides. Instead of analysing it, you simply stay with the sensation.

From there, impressions connected to that feeling may begin to arise — images, sounds, memories, or sensations.

Once a situation appears, I guide you through it as if you were actually there. We move back and forth between the sensations you experience in your body and your imagination. Following the process, often moving further back in time until the earliest memory connected to that feeling.

In case there is no specific theme, I guide you through a body scan, consciously moving through different areas of the body from bottom to top.

In each area, I ask you to scan how it feels and whether it feels open and aligned, or tense and out of balance.

If an area feels contracted or uncomfortable, we pause and I will ask you to stay with the sensation and describe what you notice, on an intuitive level.

From there, the process unfolds in the same way, moving between body sensation and visualisation.

Hypnosis works through the senses — ideally all of them in unity.

But we’ll get more deeply into that in my next blog article.
